The gallery is accommodated within a three storey volume which folds around to enclose the central courtyard, forming the heart of the building. The volume echoes the scale of the neighbouring colonial stone villas, with the cafe/restaurant, auditorium, and library occupying the space beneath the residential tower, leaving the gallery roof space free to optimise controlled daylight into the galleries.
